Some individuals with fibroids experience discomfort, bleeding, or both, while others do not. Uterine fibroids are growths that develop either inside or on top of the uterine wall. They are composed of smooth muscle cells and connective tissue. A person may have one or several fibroids on them. They can be as huge as a grapefruit seed or an apple seed, or occasionally considerably bigger. They can either shrink or grow over time. Routine pelvic ultrasounds are not very beneficial if you are symptom-free. Until menopause, fibroids are expected to grow in size annually, although therapy isn't always necessary unless the development is accompanied by severe symptoms. Currently, only medications that temporarily mask symptoms are used to treat fibroids. It makes sense for women who are bleeding heavily to think about taking medication before surgery.
