Uterine fibroids, also known as uterine fibroids, are tumors that grow within or on the uterine wall. Usually, they are not malignant. Although they don't always show symptoms, fibroids can hurt and bleed. The most prevalent benign, or noncancerous, tumors in women of childbearing age are uterine fibroids. They go by the names leiomyomas and myomas as well. While some people with fibroids only have discomfort or bleeding, many others have neither. Growths within or on the uterine wall are known as uterine fibroids. They are made up of connective tissue and smooth muscle cells. Fibroids can occur in one or more persons. They come in sizes ranging from that of an apple seed to that of a grapefruit, and occasionally even larger. Over time, they may also enlarge or contract.
